An entire country stops for the National Anthem….

Hey guys! I found these couple of videos on Youtube, and I think i said i’d share this with you on the last podcast, didn’t I? Anyways, the first video is a clear version of the song and take notice of the minutes leading up to 6 P.M and the gradual build of the ticking clock. Then immediately at 6 P.M. sharp you can hear someone ( a policeman, guard, or officer of some type) blow a whistle. The lady says “Vuewla Sip Baat Narika”, which means in Thai “The time is 6 o’clock”.  You will also notice that the traffic keeps moving, but one retired general tried to pass a law after the 2006 coup to even stop traffic twice daily as well.  I think Thai drivers heaved a collective sigh of relief when that “brilliant” idea didn’t pass into the law books.
Then the second video I found shows you the interesting affect the anthem has on the people here in Thailand as nearly everyone in a market somewhere stands and freezes in place for the duration of the anthem. Human conditioning at its finest! Anyways, hope you enjoy and will be back with another episode over the weekend.
